FAQS

Have questions about what it’s like to work together? Check out these frequently asked questions and my “Is This a Good Fit” guide linked here. If you don’t see your question here, click here to get in touch.

  • I'm located in Dallas, TX, but all sessions are virtual! I'm licensed to see clients throughout Texas and registered as a telehealth provider in Florida. So if you're anywhere in TX or FL, we can work together.

  • Super simple — you'll automatically get a link and reminders for your virtual session via email, text, and phone. You can join from any device: laptop, phone, tablet, whatever works. Just click the link when it's time for your session and we're connected. Make sure you're somewhere private where you can talk freely. If you have tech issues, we can always switch to a phone session as a backup.

  • No. All sessions are currently virtual.

  • Real answer? It depends. Some people come for a few months to work through something specific, others find it helpful to stay longer. We'll regularly check in about your progress and goals. You can stop whenever you want. My job is to work myself out of a job by helping you build the skills and healing you need to thrive on your own. We'll know it's time when you feel equipped to handle life without weekly support.

  • Life happens, but I need 24 hours notice to cancel without charge. You can cancel and reschedule anytime before that through your client portal. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you'll need to contact me directly and you'll be charged the full session fee (insurance won't cover missed sessions). This policy keeps my schedule fair for everyone and respects both our time. Emergency situations? Let's talk about it case by case.

  • I'm generally available most weekdays. When you go to book, you'll see my real-time availability. I do my best to offer flexibility, but I ask that you commit to a recurring time slot (weekly or biweekly) so we can maintain consistency in your treatment.

  • You can reach me via email, secure messaging, or text between sessions. I'm often not immediately available, but I'll do my best to respond within 24-48 business hours. Please don't use email or text to discuss therapeutic content or emergencies. For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

  • Yes, but there are some requirements. You must have been an active, consistent client for at least 6 sessions before I can complete paperwork or provide documentation. Paperwork is billed at $130/hour and requires 7-14 business days to process.

GETTING STARTED

  • I no longer offer free phone consultations. Here's why: I want to respect both your time and mine. Instead, I've made it super easy to learn everything you need to know before booking. Between this FAQ page, my specialty pages, and my [Is This a Good Fit?] guide, you should have a clear picture of who I am, how I work, and whether we'd vibe well together. If it feels right, you can go ahead and book your intake session directly — that first session IS our chance to connect, get to know each other, and see if we're the right match. No awkward 15-minute speed round needed.

  • It's a 3-step process:

Step 1: Do your research. Read through this FAQ, check out my About page and specialty pages, and review the "Is This a Good Fit?" guide.

Step 2: When you're ready, book your intake session directly through the client portal.

Step 3: Show up to your intake session. That's where we get into it- your background, your goals, and whether we're a good fit to keep working together!

  • Our first session (the intake) is basically getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, your history, and what you want to work on. I'll ask questions about your family, relationships, health, and past therapy experiences. It's not an interrogation — think of it more like painting me a picture of your life. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We'll also talk about how therapy works with me specifically, answer your questions, and make a game plan for moving forward. If we both feel it's a go, we'll schedule follow-up sessions and get to work.

ABOUT MY APPROACH

  • Honestly? It depends on you and what you need that day. Some sessions we talk and process. Some sessions I might guide you through breathwork or a grounding exercise if your nervous system needs it. Some sessions we do EMDR to reprocess trauma. I might pull in sound healing, meditation, or somatic techniques when it fits. Every session is tailored and I don't follow a rigid script. What stays consistent is that I'm direct (with compassion), engaged, and actively working WITH you!

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach that helps your brain process and release traumatic or distressing memories. During EMDR, I'll guide you through bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) while you focus on a specific memory or feeling. It might sound unusual, but it's one of the most researched and effective trauma treatments out there. Most clients describe it as intense but relieving — like their brain finally gets to file away something that's been stuck on repeat. I'm trained in EMDR and we'll talk about whether it's right for you during our sessions. For more details, visit my [EMDR page].

  • When I say holistic, I mean I don't just focus on your thoughts — I work with your whole self: mind, body, and spirit. Traditional talk therapy is part of it (CBT, DBT, ACT), but I also integrate body-based practices. I'm also a Certified Financial Social Worker, so if money stress is part of your picture, we address that too. The goal is to help you not just understand your patterns intellectually, but actually FEEL the shift in your body and your life.

  • Absolutely not. Everything is collaborative and optional. I'll never force a modality on you. We'll talk about what you're open to and what feels right. Some clients love the somatic stuff from day one. Others prefer to start with talk therapy and ease into it. Some never want to do breathwork and that's completely fine. Your comfort and autonomy always come first.

INSURANCE & PAYMENT

  • I'm currently in-network with: Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS), Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna/Evernorth, Optum, Oscar Health, Oxford, United Medical Resources (UMR), and UnitedHealthcare (UHC/UBH). I also accept Loveland Foundation vouchers.

Important: Even if your insurance is listed above, it is YOUR responsibility to verify your specific benefits before scheduling. Plans vary — you might have a copay, a deductible you need to meet first, or coinsurance. Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your outpatient mental health benefits. I handle the billing on my end.

  • My self-pay rate ($175 intake, $150 follow-ups) and I can provide you with a superbill. That's a receipt you submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. How much they reimburse depends on your specific plan. I can also help you find an in-network provider that's a better match for your coverage.

  • My sliding scale spots are currently full. However, if cost is a barrier, here are some options to explore: check whether your insurance covers sessions with me (your copay may be lower than you think), look into whether your employer offers an EAP (Employee Assistance Program), or use an FSA or HSA card (I accept both). I can also provide a list of programs and websites that offer sessions at reduced rates.

  • My out-of-pocket rates are $175 for an Intake Session and $150 for follow-up sessions (53 minutes each). If you're using insurance, your rate depends on your specific plan — it could be a copay, coinsurance, or deductible. Please call your insurance and ask about your outpatient mental health benefits before scheduling. I accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and FSA/HSA. A card on file is required before your first session.
